HGV Technician
We’re seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our maintenance team, helping diagnose, repair and maintain our fleet of HGV sweeper vehicles to a high operational and safety standard.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining heavy goods vehicles, including HGV sweeper vehicles and Class 2 vehicles, to ensure optimal operational performance.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in mechanical systems, hands-on repair work, and experience using a range of tools and specialist equipment.
Candidates should have a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and repair, ensuring safety standards and quality workmanship are consistently met.
NVQ Level 2 in Mechanics is required.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of HGV sweeper vehicles, identifying faults and areas requiring repair or maintenance.
- Maintain and repair a fleet of 15 vehicles, including DAF, Volvo and Renault vehicles.
- Perform repairs using fabrication, welding, soldering and basic electrical skills where required.
- Use hand tools, power tools and specialist equipment to carry out repairs and assembly tasks.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks including tyre replacements, brake servicing and fluid checks.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Document repair work accurately in accordance with company procedures.
- Liaise with operations and drivers directly regarding vehicle issues and requirements.
- Provide roadside assistance as and when needed.
- Work alongside a qualified technical fitter assistant.
- Liaise with suppliers and order parts as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in heavy vehicle or machinery repair, preferably as an HGV Technician or similar role.
- Experience working with road sweepers is ideal, but not essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering and basic electrical work.
- Experience with assembly processes and use of hand tools, power tools and specialist equipment.
- Own tools are required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills when liaising with operations, drivers and team members.
- Clean driving licence preferred; Class 2 licence is ideal but not essential.

We’re seeking a dedicated Sweeper Driver to join our team, operating sweeper vehicles across construction sites, car parks and roads while helping maintain clean, safe and tidy environments.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness across various construction sites and premises, ensuring a safe and tidy environment.
This role involves operating sweeper vehicles for cleaning purposes and requires a proactive approach to safety, efficiency and customer service.
The ideal applicant will have experience in commercial driving, ideally with sweeper vehicles or Class 2 vehicles, and a strong work ethic to support our organisation’s standards.
Class 2 licence is essential for this role.
Duties
- Operate a sweeper vehicle to carry out cleaning tasks safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness across designated areas including construction sites, car parks and roads.
- Follow scheduled routes accurately while adhering to project deadlines.
- Observe all safety protocols during vehicle operation and cleaning activities.
- Report any vehicle or equipment issues promptly to management.
- Liaise with the office internally regarding routes, jobs and requirements.
- Build positive working relationships externally with site managers and customers.
Skills & Experience
- Experience driving a sweeper wagon is ideal, although full training will be given.
- Experience driving a Class 2 vehicle is strongly preferred.
- Proven driving experience with a good understanding of route planning and efficiency.
- Ability to operate the sweeper wagon safely and efficiently.
- Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail.
- Good communication skills when working with team members, customers and site contacts.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on assigned routes.
- Valid commercial driving licence with a clean driving record.
